Championing Teamwork and Growth: Discover Athletics at St. Francis Solanus Catholic School
At St. Francis Solanus Catholic School, we believe in the transformative power of athletics to instill essential values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Our comprehensive sports programs, associated with both the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA), provide diverse opportunities for students to develop their physical abilities, build camaraderie, and grow both on and off the field. From basketball and volleyball to our QCES running club and more, our student-athletes are encouraged to excel in their chosen pursuits while creating lifelong memories and fostering a strong sense of community.
Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Sports
Both boys and girls are welcome to take part in the CYO Athletic Program, which includes volleyball (for grades 3-8), basketball (for grades 1-8), and karate (for grades 4-8). Occassionally, other programs and opportunities are availble. These sports activities are held after school and coached by volunteer instructors. Details about the programs are sent to school families via school communications.

Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Sports
At St. Francis Solanus Catholic School, we are proud to participate in variety of sports programs for our students through the Quincy Catholic Crusaders Sports program. We believe in the enrichment and growth that participation in interscholastic activities can provide.
In collaboration with the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA), which offers leadership and framework to ensure safe and equitable opportunities for students, our Crusader sports program is open to students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. The sports programs we offer consist of volleyball, basketball, softball, golf, and cross-country for girls and basketball, baseball, golf, and cross-country for boys.
Participation in any of these sports programs requires all student-athletes to have an up-to-date physical on file at their grade school office. A sports waiver must also be completed and submitted to their coaches. A sport assessment fee per athlete applies for each sports calendar year.
For more information, we encourage families to visit the IESA website. Please remember that participation in these sports requires that certain conditions be met by the student-athlete, including having an up-to-date physical and completing a sports waiver.
