Meet Jake Terry – Our New Youth Minister
Hello! My name is Jake Terry. I have recently accepted a position as the Youth Minister and will be running the programs for the 7th through 12th grade youth here at St. Francis Parish starting June 1.
I am so excited to get to know all of them and to become more acquainted with everyone here within our lovely parish community. I was born and raised here in Quincy attending QHS for high school. For most of my life, I attended St. John’s Anglican Church until my conversion to the Catholic faith about a year ago this time! I am currently attending Quincy University and am finishing up a degree in Roman Catholic Theology with a concentration in Franciscan Theology and spirituality.
I am engaged to be married to my beautiful fianceé, Amy Luley. She is an alumnus of Quincy University and currently lives here in town working as a family advocate at Bella Ease non-for-profit. We are planning to be married at her parish in Florissant, MO, called Sacred Heart Parish, on the 17th of September.
Since my conversion to the Roman Catholic Church, I have fallen in love with our faith tradition and am so excited to share that love with our youth here at the parish by exploring our mysterious and wonderful God and how to come to know Him and make Him a vivid and active reality within our daily lives. We as Catholics get the beautiful privilege of living the fullest expression of life with God, who is never a mere concept to us but becomes real, present, and active especially through the sacraments, filling the world and us with His eternal and renewing life.
I can’t wait to begin this exciting journey here at St. Francis, and likewise to meet all of you. With warm regards to all of you, my brothers and sisters of St. Francis Solanus Parish, Jake Terry.
