From Our Pastor: As Our Waiting Ends…
As we look to the end of Advent and the coming of our Lord in the flesh, we remind ourselves that we must ready the way of the Lord and prepare that direct route to our heart.
Reminding ourselves this comes through the sacraments, most especially confession and the Eucharist. We get rid of those obstacles of sin that stand as mountains and valleys that the Lord longs to fill in and make straight the path to your heart.
The end of Advent seems to come as quickly as it begins, which reminds us never to wait, never to grow lax, and never to delay our preparations. As we prepare all the things we do at this time of year, even if everything seems different than normal, we must remind ourselves not to grow slack in our spiritual preparations.
As the candles glow brighter on our wreaths as they increase to four this Sunday, may the light they represent glow the brighter in your hearts and lives. This light of Christ must never be extinguished but must be fanned into a fire that will set the world ablaze with His love through you.
This Advent, build your heart to be a house for the Lord to dwell, and make your home a house where the Lord does dwell. Do not delay. Be prepared to be that ready servant that cries out "I am the handmaid," the servant, "of the Lord." May we too answer, "may it be done to me according to your word" and bear Christ to the world.
