From Our Pastor: 4th Sunday of Easter
This weekend is good shepherd Sunday. It’s Good Shepard Sunday. We often share our vocation stories and talk about how God is drawing near, and more to be good shepherds, and pray for them to respond. To lay down one’s life for one’s sheep is what God calls us into. Peter is the good shepherd today not only guiding the sheep, but carrying them and placing them on the foundation of the cornerstone! May we pray for the same! Healing and an encounter with living Christ. Happy Easter!
This weekend we get to hear from some speakers about our capital campaign. I hope you give them your attention and I also hope you give us your support. We will have a couple of listening sessions coming up. Please take the opportunity to come to one of them and hear what we’re up to and give you the chance to ask questions and give constructive feedback.
This last week we took the eighth grade to the March for Life with some of our youth group members as well. There was also quite a few other partners around. This was such a great and positive event. I hope in the future more from our parish will attend. We then went on to continue for a class trip to Lake William and Christian Center in Carlinville, Illinois. This is such a fun facility with so many opportunities and we had a great time. Thank you to the students for being so good. Thank you to all those who made it possible for the kids to have this great experience.
Saturday, April 20, our third graders, received their confirmation and first communion at the Cathedral by Bishop Thomas John Paprocki. What an exciting event! We will have an opportunity for them to receive a solemn communion at the parish very soon. Please congratulate our young people on their full initiation of the Catholic Church! We are so proud of them.
I’m going to take a couple of days this week to relax and to re-energize and visit the seminary. I need a short break. I hope you understand if I am even more behind on getting back to people. Thanks for your patience.
