From Our Pastor: 21st Sunday In Ordinary Time
This weekend’s readings are the beautiful theology behind the steward of the kingdom, the vicar of Christ, the Holy Father...the Pope!
We hear about the steward of the kingdom and his role in the Kingdom of the House of David. Eliakim is the steward who is given the keys and the ability to open or shut the kingdom. In the Gospel we hear about the same role, and the giving of the keys to Simon with the new name Peter. He is the keeper of the keys and is given this role of steward of the kingdom in the kingdom of God.
Jesus is the king and is giving Peter the role of steward of the House of David, like Eliakim was in the kingdom of old. This position is one of authority and standing in place of the king and ruling in line with the king. May we pray for the Holy Father always to be a faithful and prudent steward of the House of David.
Being a good steward means using the gifts, talents, and authority we are given well, and in the mind of the king. May we be good stewards of what God has given us and always seek to use His gifts well for the sake of the kingdom.
As we start another school year...
Thank you to Mrs. Radel and all of our school staff for their wonderful job in making sure we are ready for a new school year and continue to be good stewards of the gifts we have been given in the school of St. Francis Solanus parish and especially with the gifts of each and every one of the students! What an exciting year ahead!
