From Father David… Prayers & Best Wishes On Your Advent Journey
Dear St. Francis Family:
Know of my prayers and Best Wishes on your Advent journey! May our respective preparations for that Blessed Babe of Bethlehem’s arrival enkindle greater love and charity in our hearts!
I miss you all. Rather than feel sad, I emphasize gratitude to God for the privilege of our time together! (What two wonderful years, including what I learned under Fr. Arisman’s leadership, for which I am thankful.) I hope you noted the bulletin thank you months ago for the farewell cards and enclosures. I wanted to send individual notes, but you might be surprised how busy I have been, friends. Things have been non-stop. Please feel free to reach out with any family news, or if I can remember any prayer intentions at Mass or Adoration: 207 E. Walnut, Robinson, IL 62454.
It’s an eight-hour roundtrip to Quincy for me, and I regret I haven’t made the journey back since leaving.
(I hope the trip can happen in the new year if such be God’s holy will.)
As for my new assignment, things are good. (My two churches are still standing—always a good sign.) I continue to get settled-in, and have made some new friends. The two towns are smaller than Quincy, and have charms all their own. (Over Labor Day, for example, I attended my first big rodeo in fifty years! Those bucking bulls are massive beasts! And, no, I didn’t ride any!)
Again, know of my heartfelt prayers for you and your families, as I thank you very much for your prayers for me. Enjoy a Blessed Advent, and—just around the corner! —a holy and Merry Christmas!
Fr. David
