Keith Wiemelt, Rest In Peace

July 19, 2022
Dear St. Francis Family,
We are sure that by now, most of you have heard the news of Keith Wiemelt’s sudden passing in a recent car accident. We felt it was necessary to share a bit more information for all who may be new to our school, or who may not have this information. Summer is a busy time for all families. Some may be on vacation, or out of town. Because Keith was so connected in our parish and school family, we wanted to offer a tribute to him for all of the many gifts that he shared with our students, teachers, and staff.
Keith was married to Bonnie (Zanger) Wiemelt. They have three children who are students at St. Francis Solanus School. Bonnie and Keith have devoted their service to our school over the years, and most recently were on the committee for the Parish Picnic. Keith was former band instructor for our St. Francis students over the years, and many loved the opportunity to play an instrument and appreciate the enjoyment of music under his direction. While teaching our students at St. Francis, Keith also worked at Quincy Notre Dame in the music department, teaching band. Keith also led the Pack #22 Scouts BSA at St. Francis Solanus School and spent an incredible amount of time in that leadership position. As an Eagle Scout, Keith wanted youth to reap the same benefits of Scouting that he had in his youth.
In the Quincy community, he directed the Quincy Park Band. He was a member of the Heidelberg Band. He was often in the pit band of the Quincy Community Theatre. Also, he was connected to the Great River Honor Flight Band, Muddy River Opera, Quincy’s Band on a Bus, and the Salvation Army Kroc Band.
Whether in the school community, parish community, or the city of Quincy, Keith was quick to volunteer with whatever needed to be done. We will long remember his positive attitude, wonderful laugh, and his bright smile.
For those of you who would like to show your support for the family, we suggest praying for the family. You may also bring a card or a note for the Wiemelt family to the parish office. If you would like to donate a gift card, check, or cash to the family, that would also be appreciated. We will make sure that all items are delivered to Bonnie and the children.
We thank you for your prayers, kindness, and support for the Weimelt family. May the Lord watch over them as they move through this difficult time.
Warm Regards,
Lori Shepard
