Summer News from St. Francis Solanus School – June 6
Our St. Francis Solanus Parish Picnic is this Saturday, June 8 from 5:00pm-12:00am. Mass is at 4:00pm. This event really helps financially support the school! Please plan to attend.
School Supplies and School Supply Kits
St. Francis Solanus School PTO is again offering school supply kits for each grade level at SFSS. The company is MWCS Supply, a local family-owned company. SFSS has used them for several years. They deliver the kits that have been ordered to school before Blessing of the Backpacks on August 11 with a student name on each box. The orders are needed online by the end of June.

For families that prefer to shop for their supplies, the school supply lists are attached. The lists are also on the school website. Consider using some of your supplies from last year or a student’s sibling who has been at that grade level.
Our PTO makes a small profit off each kit sold. The profits are put toward replenishing school supplies for staff in the middle of the year. Last year some of the items bought were markers, lamination sheets, glue sticks and dry erase markers.
There is one item that may be more of a challenge to find, so we are listing stores and websites that stock them. Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, are asking for packages of 100 index cards in certain multiple colors. Staples sells these cards. It is item number TR50998. You can also find them at Walmart.com, Target.com, and Office Depot. Amazon.com has them in larger quantities.

People report they have successfully washed fabric backpacks and fabric lunchboxes in a washing machine. They treat stains on the bag, then add laundry detergent as usual to the washing machine. Zip the bag closed. The bag needs to air dry.
2024-2025 QCES Dress Code
Quincy Catholic Elementary Schools will send an email about the 2024-2025 dress code soon. I reported all the parent concerns about eliminating the dark green color from the QCES dress code. Polo dresses in the same dress code colors as shirts were formally added to the QCES dress code. Watch for this email to come from QCES soon.
Bills from 2023-2024
It is essential that St. Francis Solanus School collects the final bills from school families from the 2023-2024 school year. If you are not sure if your bills are paid, please check FACTS. If an amount is due, it needs to be paid right away.
QND Running Raider Classic
QND announced that the Running Raider Classic has been cancelled for 2024 due unforeseen circumstances. It was scheduled for Saturday, June 22. If you registered for the event or sponsored it , organizers will be in contact with you.
Gene Grawe Fund Notes
St. Francis Solanus School was just notified that some of our school families earned a total of $56,844.68 in tuition scholarships for 2024-2025! They did this by using the Raise Right app and purchasing GGF gift cards to use for items such as groceries, gas and household supplies.
The Gene Grawe Fund is now raising funds for tuition scholarships in the 2025-2026 school year. Use your Raise Right app to buy “electronic gift cards”. Buy gift cards from now until April of 2025 at the Gene Grawe Fund office in St. Peter Church narthex. If your family participates, you could have a tuition scholarship landing in your FACTS account next summer!
Faculty List for 2024-2025
