From Our Pastor: The Advent of our King…
Advent is a special time of anticipation and preparation. The excitement and build waiting for the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh is one of unique anticipation. All of creation waits in breathless anticipation waiting for the first cry of their King and God and Creator. That cry harkens back to the very moments of creation coming into being when the Lord first spoke and said “Let there be…” This cry of that tiny baby the creator crying out once again for the recreation of the world. Although that recreation comes in the passion, death, and resurrection, this cry prepares the world for that moment of renewal. Our Lord and King who recreates the world is coming. Are you prepared? Have you been opening your heart to receive our King? Prepare the way of the Lord the Baptist cried.
As we often prepare for Christmas, we get overwhelmed with gift buying and decorating and parties and such, which are all good things, but they often overshadow the true meaning of this time. We get wrapped up in celebrating Christmas, then once Christmas has arrived, we stop almost instantly with the celebration. In this different time because of the changes COVID has brought upon us, use this time not in busied work and parties, but instead in breathless anticipation for the celebration.
Use these moments to prepare your heart. Use these moments to turn your life to Him who longs so much for you that He comes to be with you. That way when the celebration truly begins, we are not worn out and tired, but rested and ready and open to Him.
Come Lord Jesus, come quickly, but help us be ready for your arrival.
