From Our Pastor: Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
What is truth? Quid est Veritas? This question Pilate asks Jesus today in the next line of the Gospel of John. We don’t read that line this weekend, but this is the question that is asked most in our society.
A new phenomenon in all of history is thinking there is no “big-T” – Truth. It’s the relativistic society we live in. We hear insanity like, “Well, that may be your truth, but it isn’t my truth.” Brothers and Sisters in Christ there is Truth, and anything else is NOT truth. This idea of our world today that there is no truth is insanity and is completely illogical.
As followers of the Christ, we know He told us He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He not only teaches us and shows us the Truth, but He IS the Truth. Do not follow the lies of the world, but instead find the Truth in Christ. Daniel has a vision of the Eternal and Everlasting King. Revelation tells us Christ is the beginning and the end. If you look at the pipes of the organ in the choir loft at the back of our church, you will see a Greek letter Alpha (A) and a Greek Letter Omega (W), which are the beginning and end of the Greek Alphabet. We hear this in the Book of Revelation – that He made us a kingdom by His blood. Jesus is the revelation of Truth, as He reveals Himself to the world and to each of us. As Pilate and Jesus have their conversation about kingship, Jesus tells us that “everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
The question is, Do you fall for the lies that there is no truth, or do you hear His voice and belong to Him? This then means we must answer the question, Is Christ your king? For if He is our King, He must be above all else in our life. Above sports, politics and our political party, work, and, yes, even every relationship. EVERYTHING! If He is our King, we must put the Truth that is Christ before our own ideas, opinions, and beliefs. We must be shaped by Christ, not the other way around. If He is our King, everything must change, so that we can follow Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. For where our King goes, we should long to be!
Are you willing to give everything to Christ our King? Are you willing to be shaped by Him? Are you willing to put Him above all else in your life? If yes, begin now! If no, begin now! He is our beginning, our salvation, and our destination.
What is Truth? That’s not the correct question. WHO is Truth? That is the real question. And the only answer is Jesus Christ our Eternal King!
