From Our Pastor: Embrace True Religion and Prepare for Blessings Ahead
This weekend the readings call us to observe the statutes and decrees of the Lord. James calls us to live out true religion, which is the care for the forgotten and “to keep oneself unstained by the world.” Jesus in the gospel tells us to purify the inside and not just the outside. So often we are worried about appearances. Jesus calls us to true purification of not only what is seen but unseen. Jesus is the new Moses that calls us to follow the statutes and decrees of the Lord, interiorly as well as what the world sees. Jesus calls us to a true religion that is relational. The commandments teach us right religion and right relationship. Right relationship with God and with one another. Let us live this relationship in love.
Great news!!! It’s official. Fr. Kenneth Ahanonu has received all his proper permissions to travel here to us! Pray for him as he prepares and travels here for the first time, arriving in Quincy September 13! How exciting! Praise the Lord for this wonderful gift.
Lastly don’t forget next Wednesday begins adoration on Wednesdays from the end of the school mass around 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please help us fill the adoration time slots so we have the ability to offer this for our students and for all in the parish! Even if the slots are filled, please know all are welcome to join us even if just briefly. Come adore the Lord. He is waiting.
