The next step of the contest will be held at the Quincy Senior High School on Sunday, January 8th. Winners will advance to the National competition that will be held in Jacksonville, IL. We wish them good luck as they represent St. Francis School. We are proud of you.


Mr. Hoffman would like to thank the parents for thinking of all of us at Christmas and for all your support during the year. We are truly blessed to have such thoughtful parents at our school.

Annual Area-Wide Catholic Schools’ Week Mass

All parishioners are welcome to attend the Area-Wide Catholic Schools Week Mass on Tuesday, January 31, at 10:00 a.m., in the QND Gym. Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will be our presider. Staff and students from the four Catholic grade schools in Quincy and St. Mary’s in Mt. Sterling, QND, and representatives from Quincy University will gather with family and friends to celebrate the gift of Catholic education. This is the 39th year for the national annual recognition week. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith – Academics – Service.

Quincy Catholic Elementary Schools Foundation to Honor Pam Potter & Dan Sherman at ‘Friend of Catholic Education Award’ Dinner

Pam Potter and Dan Sherman have both been selected to receive the 2012 Quincy Catholic Elementary Schools (QCES) Foundation’s “Friend of Catholic Education Award,” in recognition of their many years of dedicated service to the Parochial Music Organization (PMO). Potter and Sherman will be honored at a fundraising dinner on Sat., Feb. 4, 2012, at the Quincy Holiday Inn at 4821 Oak St. A social hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the dinner and program to follow. Tickets for the dinner are $100 per person. Corporate table sponsorships are available for $1,000, and include 8 dinner tickets. Revenue from the dinner will go toward the QCES Foundation’s Tuition-Assistance Fund for Quincy’s four Catholic elementary schools. For the fourth consecutive year, the Western Catholic Union will provide a matching grant for funds raised from the dinner. This year’s WCU matching grant will provide up to $12,500 toward the QCES Foundation’s Tuition-Assistance Fund. Those interested in purchasing tickets or wishing to sponsor a corporate table for the 2012 “Friend of Catholic Education Award” Dinner, as well as those wanting to donate to the QCES Foundation’s Tuition-Assistance Fund, may contact Paul Rittof, executive director of the QCES Foundation, at 217-779-3157, or [email protected]


It’s not too late to join PMO Choir!  We’ll begin rehearsal for the spring semester on Wednesday, January 11 at 4:00 p.m. in the music room at St. Peter Church.  Any interested 4-8 grader attending Quincy Parochial Schools is welcome and invited to join us!  For more information, contact Monica Scholz ~ [email protected] or 217-430-8015.


We would like to thank Vanessa Crow for sharing her expertise in tae kwon do with most of our students the week before Christmas. We would also like to thank Angie Asmann from NuFit for arranging this activity for our students.


There will be no school on Monday, January 16, 2012, for Martin Luther King Day.


It is once again Catholic School Week Time. We are continuing our tradition of Enrichment Classes and are looking for people to teach classes. They are temporarily scheduled for Monday, January 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 3rd with the time to be announced. Those interested please contact the school office, Mrs. Dawson, or Mrs. Hull. Thanks for your interest in enriching our students and sharing your talents!
