Wish List for St. Francis Solanus

We often have requests from parents and community members on how they can help our school.  We have compiled a list of some of our “big ticket items” with prayer that the Lord will provide!  We invite you to consider ways to make a positive difference in the lives of many students with a donation of any size.  God Bless!  Lori Shepard, Principal

Benefit Dinner – May 28th, 2017 – 5pm (doors open) / 5:30 (silent auction) / 6:30pm (dinner)

St. Francis is sponsoring a benefit dinner for Carol Seifert, our Director of Religious Education.  She is receiving treatment for cancer.  Please show your support through prayer and words of encouragement.  If you were able to come to the benefit dinner, this would be great way to express your care for Carol and her family.  Tickets are sold at the school or parish offices (during office hours) for $40 per person.  You can also contact Fr. Pre-School:  There are still openings in the 3 year old P.M. and 4 year old P.M. classes.  Please call the office for more information.  Thanks!

QND Summer Sports Events and Grade School Camps

There are many opportunities for grade school students to attend sports camps at QND this summer as well as sports events for everyone. Please visit www.quincynotredame.org for details on the summer sports events and individual camp dates and times. 

QND 150th Celebration June 11

Quincy Notre Dame High School will host their 150th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Mass with Bishop Paprocki will be 1:00 p.m. in the QND gymnasium.  An Open House will follow the Mass, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  All are welcome!

Mega Event June 3

The Everybody Wins Mega Raffle “Mega Event” for top 55 prizes will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 5 p.m., on the grounds of Knights of Columbus in Quincy. Drawings will begin at 6 p.m. with announcement of $100,000 GRAND PRIZE winner at 9 p.m.

A BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Connie Gordon for all her hours of volunteering for the school office.  She is a tremendous help throughout the school year helping keep things rolling with all the bits of information that are passed along to our students and families.  You are a blessing to St. Francis School!  Thank you, Judy and Kris.

DARE Assembly– Congratulations to Jacob Schisler, who won the DARE Essay Writing Contest.  His award was presented at the recent DARE Graduation that was held in the Parish Center on Thursday, May 18th.  Local dignitaries Mayor Kyle Moore, Chief Rob Copley, and Quincy University Campus Minister, Ray Heilmann were the guest speakers.  All shared valuable advice with the 6th grade students to help prevent poor decisions with drugs and alcohol.  We would like to thank Officer Kelly VanderMaiden for her instruction and dedication to our students.

12 Little Angels Poster Contest– Congratulations to Delaney Beard, whose design was selected to be printed on several t-shirts.  The t-shirts will be given to students and faculty as a way to remind donors to generously give to the 12 Little Angels Tuition Assistance Fund.  Delaney won a top prize of $50.00 and Mrs. Stuckman’s class will have a $250.00 prize to use for classroom supplies!

Scholarship Awards 2017

We are very thankful to the donating families who have made our scholarships possible for so many of our students. Our Awards Assembly was held on Tuesday, May 16 and the following students were presented with these awards:

Knuffman Scholarship, $500- Erica Arnold

Cox Scholarship, $500- Caleb Hoffman

Scholz Scholarship, $750- Victoria Bickhaus

Scholz Scholarship, $750- Mitchell Brecht

Prater Scholarship, $2,600- Isabella Bickhaus (for 2 years)

Fischer Scholarship, $2,500 – Jack March (for 4 years)

Congratulations to all of our worthy students for their hard work and accomplishments!  We also honored the students that have been involved in our school theatre and have participated in the school play.  And finally, we honored 2 teachers for outstanding service and dedication to Catholic education:  Jamie Marshall for 5 years, and Maureen Makarewicz for 40 years of service! God bless them and their families for their endless patience, love, and academic expertise they share with our students every day!
