Wish List for St. Francis Solanus

We often have requests from parents and community members on how they can help our school.  We have compiled a list of some of our “big ticket items” with prayer that the Lord will provide!  We invite you to consider ways to make a positive difference in the lives of many students with a donation of any size.  God Bless!  Lori Shepard, Principal

Guided Reading Books- $17,000

3rd Floor Restroom Repairs- $45,000 (we have raised $25,000)

Technology Updates and Expenses for 2017-2018- $27,000

New Chairs for the Library- $2,000

Opening for 2017-2018 School Year:  St. Francis Solanus will have an opening in second grade for the upcoming school year.  Interested applicants must have Protecting God’s Children and an Illinois teaching license.  Resumes may be sent to Lori Shepard, St. Francis Solanus School, 1720 College, Quincy, IL. 62301 or [email protected].

Confirmation Orientation for 2017-2018 8th grade classAn orientation meeting will be held in the Parish Hall at 6:30 for parents and students that are currently in the 7th grade.

Benefit Dinner – May 28th, 2017 – 5pm (doors open) / 5:30 (silent auction) / 6:30pm (dinner)

St. Francis is sponsoring a benefit dinner for Carol Seifert, our Director of Religious Education.  She is receiving treatment for cancer.  Please show your support through prayer and words of encouragement.  If you were able to come to the benefit dinner, this would be great way to express your care for Carol and her family.  Tickets are sold at the school or parish offices (during office hours) for $40 per person.  You can also contact Fr. Mr. Zanger’s Genius Hour: This week we are going to try and get a lot of items for the homeless or people in need by May 15th.  Haley Schertel, Isabella Bickhaus, Lily St. John, and Mackenzie Flachs would like you to donate a canned food, clothes, toiletries, and other items that are not perishable.  There are laundry baskets by the stairs and by the gym where donations can be dropped off, and a table on the main floor to put most of your items.  If you are willing to participate please have the following grades bring in these items: Kindergarten: socks   1st: fruit cups 2nd: trail mix  3rd: beef jerky (original)             4th: pudding cups         5th : baby wipes   6th: sunscreen     7th: lotion 8th: band aids teachers: travel coffee mugs.                      Thank you for helping!

Parents, as you know we do not accept requests for specific classrooms.  We have an objective process that will balance each class for gender and abilities.  The teachers have completed class lists for next year and that information will not be available until school starts in the fall.  Please do not call the school to request that your child be placed with a particular friend, or teacher. We would love to be able to accommodate everyone that has a special request, but that is not possible.  Thank you.

IESA CROSS COUNTRY-Grades 6-8 (2017-2018)

Quincy Catholic Running Crusaders ARE BACK for another season!  Don’t miss YOUR opportunity to be a part of this AMAZING team!  The Cross Country official season begins August 1 and extends through mid-October!  There are summer events beginning in June!  Please contact Denise Sangoi at 316-5729 or [email protected] if you are interested.

12 Little Angels Poster Contest:  All entries are due May15th. Teachers have informed the students about this contest, so please ask your child for more information. Thanks.

Pre-School:  There are still openings in the 3 year old P.M. and 4 year old P.M. classes.  Please call the office for more information.  Thanks!

May 16th: Awards Ceremony in the gym at 9:00

May 18th: D.A.R.E. Graduation in Parish Hall for 6th grade 1:30 to 2:30

May 19th: 8th Grade class trip

May 23rd: 8th Grade Graduation at 7:00 p.m.

May 24th: Confirmation at 7:00 p.m.

May 26th: ALL OUTSTANDING LUNCH BILLS ARE DUE 

    June 1st:  School picnic at Tangerine Bowl  (students meet at bowling alley)

Doors open at 8:00 and prayer service begins at 8:20, bowling at 9:00
