St. Francis School Newsletter – December 14, 2018

Parents, I highly commend our cafeteria staff for the outstanding job that they do on a regular basis for our students and teachers. We often take for granted the delicious lunches that they provide for us. In an effort to be more efficient and cost effective, we are preparing only extra food in case a child may drop a tray, for example.  Teachers are working to provide an accurate lunch account every day so that the proper amount of food is being prepared and we are not wasting resources.  We are asking that if your child arrives after 9:00 am, to please bring them a cold lunch, unless you have called in prior and told the office otherwise,  as our lunch count will have been submitted by that time, and the cooks will already be preparing food for the day.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

QCES Curriculum Mapping

In December, the QCES teachers held meetings in grade bands.  The Blessed Sacrament, St. Dominic, St. Francis and St. Peter PreKindergarten-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade teachers met together.   During these meetings the grade level teachers compared their proposed curricula to the Next Generation Science Standards.  Each grade level presented its proposed curriculum to the grade band group.  The entire group looked for any gaps and repetitions and made adjustments.  At the end of the meeting, the group determined consensus on what units would be taught to create vertical alignment PreKindergarten-8th grade.
