St. Francis School News – September 8, 2017

Dear Parents,

Thank you for attending our “Meet the Teacher” night on Wednesday.  It was a pleasure to see so many of you and we greatly appreciate your support of our teachers and school.  We were pleased to see such a positive response to our “Customer Service” cards that you filled out.  Thank you for your kind words and as always, please contact us if you have any concerns.  My door is always open!  We are off to a great start for the 2017-2018 school year and anticipate many opportunities to create lasting memories for your children.

My Best,

Lori Shepard, Principal

Cafeteria:  We would like to welcome our new Head Cook, Tabitha Surowiec, to our St. Francis School Family.  Tabitha will be replacing Donna Kimbrell, who retired recently.  Tabitha has also worked from time to time in our Daycare and we are thrilled to have her full-time.

If you are interested in helping in the kitchen…..

Cafeteria Subs: if you are interested in helping in the kitchen please call the school office.  These hours would be used towards the 10 required hours for your family.

Cell Phone number: please make sure your cell phone number is in RenWeb and is correct. This number will be called for any school alert or information needed to pass along.

PERMISSION SLIPS:   EACH student must have their own permission slip for a school event, please do not put all your children’s name on one slip.  Teachers must keep these individual records for the school year in their classrooms.

Boys ACES Basketball Tryouts:

Monday, October 2 and Tuesday, October 3 at Quincy Notre Dame

5th Grade Boys:  5:30-6:30 p.m. each night

6th Grade Boys:  6:30-7:30 p.m. each night

ACES is a basketball organization for 5th & 6th grade boys who would eventually like to play high school basketball at Quincy Notre Dame.  Teams play primarily on weekends from November through February.  Because it is a “traveling” team, ACES plays mostly out of town in such cities as Macomb, Palmyra, Galesburg, Hannibal, and somtimes in the metro St. Louis area.  The cost per player is $150. There is no guaranteed playing time in games as there is in leagues such as the YMCA or CYO.   We play approximately 25-30 games per year, often getting more than one game per travel date. Boys should make every effort to attend both nights of tryouts if possible.

Please direct any questions to Tom VanderBor at 653-8377 or [email protected].

LUNCH MONEY: Please put your child’s first AND last name on the envelope along with the teacher’s last name.

We have had several payments come to the office (in cash) with no last name on the envelope. Thank you.
