St. Francis School News – September 21, 2018

Safety Concerns:

Safety is our utmost concern at St. Francis Solanus School.  It has come to our attention that a few people are unfamiliar with our routines with barricades.  When the barricades are blocking a street, please do not drive around them.  Barricades are up because our precious students are in a street area. If you must enter the school grounds when the barricades are up, enter the far West parking lot and park.  You may then walk to the school without causing a safety hazard.

Thank you, Lori Shepard

Book Fair Success: Thanks to everyone who was able to visit our Book Fair this past week.  It was a wonderful success.  Thanks to Misty Cramsey for helping set it up and tear it down, and all our volunteers that helped during the week.  If anyone would like to help chair this fundraiser in the future, please contact the school office.

BOX TOPS: Please keep sending them in to the school.  This is a great way for the school to create funds for purchases.

GYM SHOES: Just a clarification on this new policy for the students.  ALL students are to change into a pair of gym shoes for P.E. class.  These shoes will be kept in the classroom.  The gym floor has suffered some scrapes and we are trying to remedy this quickly.  Any questions, please call the school office.

Picture Day 2019– It was so wonderful to see the students all dressed up for pictures in their favorite dress or shirt.  We appreciate the extra effort that parents make to ensure our school is well-represented in the yearbook and the composite photo that hangs in our school lobby all year.  Our picture date has already been selected as September 17, 2019 for next year.  With that being said, we would like to clear up any confusion about the proper attire.  Students may wear an out of dress code shirt, but should be school appropriate- not a shirt with writing, or from a concert, for example.  The dresses selected should be of an appropriate length, with no spaghetti straps, and should be of a modest nature.  Dress code bottoms will be worn and jeans will not be allowed.  We feel that this is a day to dress up, not dress down.  We wanted to let you know in advance, and will do our best to remind you in the fall of our expectations so there is no confusion.  We apologize if we were not clear about what was appropriate attire to wear.

Lori Shepard, Principal
