4 WAY STOP AT 17TH AND COLLEGE: PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS INTERSECTION CHANGE

AFTER CARE SCHEDULE: Tuesday, Oct. 16th After Care students will need to be picked up no later than 4:15 p.m. that evening. We apologize for any inconvenience.  Thank you for your understanding.

Pet Blessing– On Thursday, October 4th, we were thrilled to have several students and their pets participate in a very special pet blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi.  He loved nature and all of God’s creatures, and regarded them as his brothers and sisters.  On Thursday, we had quite a variety of pets:  a chicken, a turtle, a guinea pig, a cat, and several dogs.  It was delightful to see the love between pet and student and the strong bond that had developed over time.  A special thank you to Father Bob and Father Don for attending and facilitating the service.

Lori Shepard, Principal

LUNCH CARD/ID’S: each student has a plastic ID card for lunches with a bar code provided by LifeTouch.  If a student loses or damages it, a replacement fee of $5.00 will be charged.  If you have any questions, please call the school office.

SICK CHILD: It is that time of year.  If your child has been ill (fever or vomiting) they must stay home from school (at least) for the next school day. A child may not return to school until they are fever free WITHOUT medicine for 24 hours.  Please refer to the handbook page 36.  This also helps with spreading of the illness within the school.  Thank you for your cooperation.

8TH GRADE STUDENTS: for those who sold pizzas for the class trip, pizzas will be delivered to the school on Sunday, Oct. 14th at 1:30.   Pizzas come frozen from Columbia, MO, so if you CANNOT pick up your pizzas that day, please make arrangements with someone to get them for you etc.  If you have any questions, please call the school office.  Thanks for selling and making this fundraiser a great success and providing funds for your class trip!

The QND Choirs, under the direction of Monica Scholz, will present a Fall Choral Concert on Monday, October 15 at 7:00 pm in Blessed Sacrament Church.  The Concert Chorale Mixed Chorus, Madrigal Choir, and Women’s and Men’s Glees will be featured.  All choirs are accompanied by Robert March.  Admission is free and all are invited to attend!

COOKIE DOUGH SALES:  forms have been sent home with your student.  This school fundraiser is a great opportunity to help raise money for our school and have a yummy treat.  The school gets 50% of the profits!

All forms are due Monday, Oct. 15th and delivery will be on Wednesday, Nov. 14th.  All money is due Monday, Nov. 19th to the school office.

Crusader Boys Basketball:

The 7th grade boys Crusader basketball tryouts will be Monday and Tuesday October 15th and 16th @ QND from 5:30-7:00 pm each night.   8th grade tryouts will be scheduled at a later time. Thanks, Coach Orne.

QCES Curriculum Mapping

The QCES teachers have started an exciting new initiative.  The teachers from Blessed Sacrament, St. Dominic, St. Francis and St. Peter are working together on curriculum mapping.  The goals for this year are to create a common science curriculum preschool through eighth grade for the four schools and to provide collaboration time for the seventy-three QCES teachers.

In the months of August and September, our teachers participated in two professional development sessions on curriculum mapping and read the book Mapping the Big Picture: Integrating Curriculum and Assessment K-12 by Heidi Hayes Jacobs.  The teachers are working on this project with local educational consultant Elizabeth Brown.  The funding for the project was obtained through a Tracy Family Foundation grant.
