St. Francis School News – February 23, 2018

School Safety: Parents, we have implemented a safer plan to drop off your children in the mornings, but a plan is not foolproof, unless everyone follows it.  We were notified at a Board Meeting this week that parents are dropping off children in the West parking lot and allowing them to walk through the parking lot without supervision.  One child was almost hit by a car that was backing up.  The main reason we do not allow any cars to park near the building is for that very reason.  We have a fence in place to funnel children to the safe area- the crosswalk- so that they may walk in front of passing cars with supervision by a teacher who will stop the traffic. If your child is dropped off in the West parking lot, in the alley, or on the street across from the school and allowed to walk alone through traffic, we have a serious concern.  Please take the time to escort them to the fenced area so they are not walking alone where the traffic is moving.  We realize everyone is in a hurry to get to work, but your child’s safety is more important than anything else.  Please take the extra few minutes to follow the plan that is in place and do not put your child in danger.  We cannot always prevent an accident, but by being proactive, we can do our very best to protect your precious children.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this urgent matter.

Please have your child bring a change of shoes for P.E. class. The students may NOT wear outside shoes in the gym.  A pair of tennis shoes should be left at school for this class time.  The gym floor is getting scuffed by outside shoes and we would like to prevent further damage to the floor. This will also be implemented as a supply list item for 2018-2019 school year.  Thank you.
