The final week of second grade is here–where did the year go? It has been a great year, and I have truly enjoyed this class of enthusiastic and creative children.
There will be no homework this week. We had our final Spelling test last week.
We have covered all of the lowercase cursive letters and are trying to learn the correct formation of all the uppercase cursive letters. However, we are running out of time. We will not have much time to practice writing the uppercase letters, so the children may want to practice over the summer–there will be some writing pages left for them to practice. Cursive will be reviewed in third grade.
Our class released butterflies last week. We had been observing them since getting them as caterpillars.
The children have been working on a play for most of this school year. The play, “Peter Pan”, has been written, organized, and directed by Jack and Mike Staff. They have gathered costumes and props and practiced during recess. All of the children in our class have been involved. This has been a student-led project with very little ”teacher” involvement. The second graders will present their play to Mrs. Eaton’s kindergarten class tomorrow.
Jean day (with dress code shirts) tomorrow (Tuesday) for a dollar donation to the parish picnic. Jean day has also been designated for Thursday.
11:30 dismissal on Thursday.
School picnic at Casino Lanes on Friday from 9:00 to 1:00. Students will need to come to me there to receive their report cards.
